Our Team
All educators at Gordon Community Preschool have a strong sense of commitment to their work with children and the preschool. They are dedicated, motivated and caring and have a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge which contributes to our rich and diverse programme. Some of the interests among the current team include cooking, music, gardening, a love of animals and the visual arts, including painting drawing and photography. All educators work collaboratively both as a teaching team and with families to provide a positive and meaningful programme.
There are four classes at the preschool. Each class has 18 or 19 children, with a qualified Early Childhood teacher and an experienced and/or qualified Child care Worker. There are additional part-time staff who work in the rooms during the middle part of the day who also bring their own diverse experience and interests to the programme. All educators share an inclusive approach to working with children with additional needs and their families. Staff in our inclusion support team work in each room to increase the ratios of educators to children when needed. This team includes Early Childhood Teachers and experienced Child Care Workers who work collaboratively with the teachers in the rooms.
Our preschool team has a strong commitment to professional development and regularly undertake training courses and workshops to update their knowledge and keep abreast of current thinking within the field of Early Childhood Education. This includes all staff maintaining a current Senior First Aid certificate.
Several of our team are currently undertaking further studies including studies to obtain a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood). Our Director is in a non-teaching role and also holds a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education.
